AKS Annual School Art Awards
The AKS Annual School Art Awards are sponsored by Mr Douglas Barrowman, Knox House plc.
The annual Art awards are presented by the Archibald Knox Society at every level of the Isle of Man Education system, Primary, Secondary and the Isle of Man College.
At primary level a certificate and a prize of £10 pounds is offered to the best student at Art in sixth class. The winner is decided by the class teacher and the certificate is presented to the student by a representative of the Society.
At Secondary School level two prizes of £50 each are presented to two A level students from each of the five Island secondary schools. The prizes and certificates are presented at the end of year schools Art Exhibition. The art disciplines for which prizes are presented are chosen by the school art/design teachers and may include painting, photography, textile design, and technical design and others.
Isle of Man College:
Sponsored by the Isle of Man Post Office: The awards take place each year at the annual art exhibition. (end of June)
Three prizes of £100 pounds each are presented with certificates in the following categories.
1. Prize for ‘First Year National Diploma’ – overall body of work
2. Knox/Sayle Prize for Manx inspired art
3. Knox/Sayle prize for innovative work.
